Chairs

I'm not sure if you remember the leather chair I wanted for our living room:

... And I don't know if you remember that it's no longer available (sucks!)... so I'm searching for another chair I like (this ones are all from Ballard Designs)... Which one's your favorite??? Personally, I'm still not convinced about any of them, I'm still searching and I want to make sure they go well with what we currently have in our living room.

... Y no se si se acuerdan de que ya no esta disponible (que la ching...)... asi que ando buscando otra silla que me guste (estas son todas de Ballard Designs)... Cual es tu favorita??? Yo todavia no estoy convencida acerca de ninguna, y todavia estoy buscando sobre todo porque me quiero asegurar de que combine con lo que ya tenemos en la sala.

Oh, and I really like this one for the heads of the dining room table.

Ah, y tambien me gustan mucho estas para las cabeceras del comedor.

Livingroom

Our livingroom furniture finally came in!!! Like almost always, when I first saw it in our livingroom I was a bit shocked (thought the "white" sofa is too ivory) but now looking at the photos I like the sofa and the chair way more!!!

I still need to decide on end tables (I'm almost sure they'll be wooden though, but I thought I wanted round tables and now I think I want square ones to kind of "match" the rectangular coffee table) and buy the table lamps (almost sure I'll buy ones I found at Crate & Barrel).

Finalmente llegaron los muebles de la sala!!! Y como casi siempre, cuando los vi por primera vez en nuestra sala quede en shock (se me hizo que el sillon "blanco" se ve demasiado ivory) pero ahora mirando las fotos me gustan mucho mas el sofa y la silla!!!

Todavia necesito decidir que mesitas quiero (estoy casi segura que van a ser de madera, pero creia que queria redondas y ahora pienso que mejor cuadradas para que "combinen" con la mesa de centro rectangular) y comprar las lamparas (que ya estoy casi segura voy a comprar unas de Crate & Barrel).

I need your input. Part 2: Living Room

Ok here's my other dilema: today I had one of the designers from Ethan Allen come to the house to help me out with the living room and our bedroom, and I got very excited about her ideas... But, once she left I started looking through the website and putting a list together of the items that we discussed that would go into the living room the total would be, approximately, $8381 (without adding the extra costs for custom fabric or other things), and now that I put it together, I'm not sure if I love it THAT much :-S

The other part of the dilema is that I recently got an email from Macys that said they had a furniture on sale, and when I opened it up, I thought one of the sets was VERY cute!!! But I'm not sure if it's too trendy and I would get tired of it soon, or if it would be too much tufting for one area :-) But again, even if I bought that sofa and chair, plus the Grandin Road white leather chair that I LOVE and the side tables, plus the same coffee table from Ethan Allen, the total would come to around $3100!!! (And I could always find another coffee table that 's similar and not as expensive).

So once again, I need your opinion!!! Please leave a comment!!! Do you like either? Should I go ahead and buy the Macys option since it's on sale right now? Or should I keep looking???

Ok, aqui esta mi otro dilema: hoy vino a la casa una disenadora de Ethan Allen para ayudarme con la sala y nuestro cuarto, y me gustaron mucho sus ideas... Pero ya que se fue empece a buscar en la pagina de internet y hacer una lista aproximada de los muebles que menciono que podriamos poner ahi (al mismo tiempo) y el total seria, aproximadamente, $8381 (sin incluir las telas especiales que podria pedir y otras cosas), y ahorita que lo puse todo junto tampoco estoy segura si me gusta tanto :-S

La otra parte del dilema es que recientemente me llego un correo de Macys que decia que tenian una especial de muebles, y cuando me meti a la pagina vi un juego que me gusto MUCHO!!! Pero no estoy segura si este demasiado a la moda y se vaya a ver ridiculo en algunos anios :-) Pero igual, aunque comprar ese sofa y la silla, y la silla de piel blanca que me ENCANTA de Grandin Road y las mesitas de ahi mismo, y hasta la mesa de vidrio de Ethan Allen, el total seria de aproximadamente $3100!!! (Por supuesto que tambien podria buscar otra mesa de vidrio mas barata).

Asi que otra vez necesito tu opinion!!! Por favor dejen sus comentarios!!! Les gusta alguna de las 2? Compro la opcion de Macys ya porque esta en especial? O sigo buscando???

I think this (or something similar to it) is the overall look that the designer is going for (i.e. same coffee table, same lamps and I think she also proposed a light/white sofa):

Another thing that makes me think about the Ethan Allen furniture twice is that, for instance, this is the lamp that the designer proposed, it's $419, the second one is from Restoration Hardware, it's very similar and it's only $289, not free, but much cheaper

Otra cosa que me hace pensar 2 veces acerca de los muebles de Ethan Allen es que, por ejemplo, esta lampara que la disenadora propuso cuesta $419, la segunda es de Restoration Hardware, es muy similar y cuesta solamente $289, no esta regalada, pero esta mucho mas barata

Chair covers

Our chairs didn't look terrible... but thanks to Mia's (our oldest dog) separation anxiety they needed some covers to look better, so I bought some chair covers from JC Penney for like $10 each!!!

Living Room

Since we're getting closer to closing, I'm starting to look into our decoration more "seriuosly"... These are the ideas I'm finalizing for the living room (if you check out the layout of the house, it's the one that specifically says "living room" in the front of the house and it's about 12 x 13'). First, this is where I got my original inspiration from:

Debido a que ya estamos tan cerca de la fecha de cerrar el trato en nuestra casa, he estado empezando a pensa mas "seriamente"... Asi que estan son las ideas que estoy finalizando para la sala (si miran el layout de la casa, es el area que dice "living room" al frente de la casa y es de aproximadamente 12 x 13 pies). Primero, esta es la foto de donde obtuve mi inspiracion:

Then I found this photo for a paint and it better defines what I want, and since it's a relatively small space I think we can do the bead board too and by ourselves:

I had also found this sectional that I thought would go great with the above paint, but when I saw it in person, it was too blue... Later on I decided I wanted any way, but I now think that it's too small for the space :-S

Tambien habia encontrado este sillon que pense que se iba a ver muy bien con la pintura de arriba, pero cuando lo vi en persona, estaba demasiado azul... Luego decidi que de todas maneras lo queria, pero ahora creo que esta demasiado pequeno para el espacio :-S

I also found these drapes from JC Penney that I think would look nice (although, seeing the couch next to the curtains doesn't make them look that great together).

Luego halle estas cortinas de JC Penney que se me hizo se iban a ver bien (aunque ahora que las estoy viendo junto al sillon no se me hace que se vayan a ver muy bien juntos).

I also finally found a lamp for that area that I liked, and it's not $400 :-) Found at Home Decorators

For a side table I had this one as a finalist (from Grandin Road), now I have to decide if I want it in white or brown, and if you notice above, a lot of the accent furniture is white:

I like this concept but I don't think the black and white would do with the rest of the house. So I found the "brown zebra" one :-)

Me gusta este concepto pero no creo que el blanco y negro vaya con el resto de la casa. Asi que encontre la de "zebra cafe" :-)

I also found this one, which can be purchased in brown or even blue!!!

Tambien encontre esta, que puede comprarse en cafe o hasta en azul!!!

But my favorite so far is this one!!! It's also from Grandin Road, the only "bad" thing is that it costs $700, but it looks like it would last forever, right???

Pero mi favorita hasta ahora es esta!!! Tambien es de Grandin Road, lo unico "malo" es que cuesta $700, pero tambien parece que duraria para siempre, no???

It also comes in white, which I love even more, but John says it would show dirt more and even though I think it will be easier to clean since it's leather, right now that I was writing about how the look like they will last forever I do think the brown was has more "staying" power.

Tambien viene en blanco, que me gusta aun mas, pero John dice que se le va a notar mas la mugre y aunque yo creo que va a ser facil de limpiar porque es de piel, ahorita que estaba escribiendo que parece que durarian para siempre estoy pensando que la cafe no pasaria de moda tampoco.

Living Room Dilemma

If you've been following my house blog you know that we'll have 4 areas (living room, great room, loft and basement) in our house that will require sofas, chairs or some type of sitting... that we don't have since we live in a 1 bedroom apartment.


So, after searching IRL, we're almost set on this sectional the living room furniture:

Si has estado siguiendo mi blog sabes que tenemos 4 areas (la sala, el cuarto familiar, la estancia y el sotano) en nuestra casa que requieren sofas, sillas o algun tipo de asiento... y que no los tenemos ya que vivimos en un departamento de 1 recamara.

Bueno, pues despues de buscar "en la vida real" (o sea, no nomas en linea) ya casi nos decidimos por este seccional para la sala:





I had already started looking for another one because we went to the furniture store that sales it and they told us it was on sale because it was going to be discontinued... well, for some reason I went online a couple of days ago, and it's STILL THERE!!! It's great for us, but I'm glad we didn't get rushed into buying it!

We've also decided on the style of furniture for the basement (it has to be manly!!!) :-) It'll be something like the 2 below:

Yo ya habia empezado a buscar otro porque cuando fuimos a verlo a la muebleria que lo vende nos dijeron que estaba rebajado porque lo iban a descontinuar... y por alguna razon se me ocurrio meterme a la pagina de la muebleria otra vez hace unos dias, y TODAVIA ESTA AHI!!! Lo cual es muy bueno para nosotros, pero me da gusto que no nos dejamos presionar para comprarlo!

Ya tambien decidimos el estilo de mueble que queremos para el sotano (tiene que ser masculino!!!) :-) Va a ser algo parecido a los 2 de abajo:
But here's my dilema.... If you remember the layout I want for the great room, I wanted 2 chairs, 1 for each side of the fireplace... And I found this one, that I loved and I had almost decided to buy it as a set with the sofa... But real life it turned out to look too brownish (I thought it had a bit more blue-green to it) :-( Another con is that it wouldn't really go with the art piece I want for the mantlepiece.

Pero he aqui mi dilema... Si recuerdan el layout que quiero para el cuarto familiar, yo quiero 2 sillas, 1 para cada lado de la chimenea... Y me encontre este, que me encanto y hasta habia casi decidido comprarlo como set con el sofa... Hasta que lo vi en persona y se ve muy cafe (yo pense que tenia un poco mas de azul aqua) :-( Otro punto en contra es que se me hace que no quedaria con el cuadro que quiero para arriba de la chimenea.

But I don't like any of the 2 couches that they show as options for the chair... One looks too "Smurfy", and the other one too "blah"...

Pero no me gustaron ninguno de los 2 sillones que muestran como opciones para la silla... Uno se ve muy "pitufo" y el otro muy sin chiste...



I also saw this other sofa on the furniture store's website, which I kind of liked in the picture, and in person I thought it looked really good:

Tambien vi este otro sofa en la pagina de internet de la muebleria, que me gusto un poco en la foto, pero en persona se me hizo que se veia muy bien:




But the chair that's part of that set:

1) Is too big (it's called 1 and 1/2 chair)
2) More expensive
3) Has the same pattern as the couch, which I didn't want... I kind of wanted something different that was functional but also served as accent furniture.

Pero la silla que es parte de este set:

1) Esta demasiado grande (le dicen silla y 1/2)
2) Mas cara
3) Es del mismo color/tela que el sillon, lo cual yo no queria... Como que quiero algo diferente que fuera funcional pero tambien que sirviera como un elemento de decoracion.

I started thinking about it... And thought that maybe the darker color couch will work for us (stains less noticeble), especially in the Great Room, where we'll be spending time as a family (puppies included)... And started considering mixing it up... With this last couch and the stripped chair...

I usually "know" what I want and what I like, but in this case... I'm not sure...

What do you think???

Me puse a pensar sobre eso... Y creo que tal vez el color mas oscuro va a funcionar para nosotros (se le notan menos las manchas), especialmente para el cuarto familiar, porque vamos a estar pasando tiempo ahi como familia (incluyendo a las perras)... Y empece a considerar mezclar los muebles... El ultimo sillon con la silla de rayas...

Usualmente "se" lo que quiero y lo que me gusta, pero en este caso no estoy segura...

Que les parece???
