The Drywall is Complete!!!

Hi there! Here my little weekly update. The house looks almost the same, so we didn't take a lot of pictures this time, but there are advances (like the new driveway), and I also got the official status update, that lets me know that this week they'll start working on all the cabinets (kitchen and bathrooms I'm guessing), maybe some of the doors and they're definitely going to start painting this week because we saw all the buckets there!!! Yay!!!

Hola!!! Este es mi pequena actualizacion semanal. La casa se ve casi igual, por lo que no tomamos tantas fotos esta vez, pero si hay avances (como la entrada al garage), y tambien me mandaron la actualizacion oficial, que dice que esta semana van a empezar a trabajar en los gabinetes (de la cocina y el banio), tal vez tambien en las puertas interiores no se y definitivamente tambien van a empezar a pintar esta semana porque vimos todas las cubetas ahi!!! Yay!!!

Weekend Videos

John did a great job this week with the videos!!! And I'm the same dork as always :-) The first one is the first floor, the deck and back yard and the second one is the second flor with all the bedrooms. Enjoy!!!

John tomo unos videos muy buenos esta semana!!! Y yo segui actuando super wey, como siempre :-) El primero es el primer piso, la terraza y el patio de atras y el segundo es el segundo piso con todas las recamaras. Que los disfruten!!!

Holy Cow... It's coming along so fast!!!

OMG!!! The house seems almost complete!!! Of course it's still has a lot of things to go, but it looks like from now on they're mostly details, finishings, etc. The structure, dry wall and outside are ALMOST complete!!! Check out this week's pictures!!!

No manches!!! La casa ya se ve casi completa!!! Claro que todavia le faltan muchas cosas, pero parece que ya nada mas son detalles y acabados. La estructura, las paredes y el exterior estan CASI terminados!!! Chequen las fotos de esta semana!!!

We have a garage door!!! And it seems that they're going to pour the driveway next week!

Ya instalaron la puerta del garage!!! Y parece que van a vaciar el cemento de la entrada para el carro la semana que viene!

Our little porch. You can even see a little bit of the cement from the (future) driveway to the porche, which is new.

Nuestro pequeno porche. Se puede ver el pedacito de cemento que va a ir desde la entrada del carro hasta el porche (en el futuro), lo cual es nuevo.

This is the view from the corner of the house, next to the fireplace, on the far right you can see the little aisle leading to the half bathroom and the garage entry, next to it is the pantry, then the aisle, staircase and the door to the basement, and on the far left, our formal dining room.

Esta es la vista desde la esquina de la casa, a un lado de la chimenea, en la extrema derecha se puede ver el pasillito que lleva al medio banio y a la entrada desde el garage, a un lado esta la alacena, y luego un pasillo, las escaleras y la puerta al sotano, y en la extrema iquierda, el comedor formal.

The basement: on the left is the utilities closet, the middle door is the full bathroom and on the right the pump closet.

El sotano: a la izquierda esta el closet de servicio, en la mitar el banio completo y del lado derecho el closet con la bomba para que no se inunde la casa.

Start of the Siding

Today we went by the house and we actually got to meet our future neighbors and, curiously, they're also a bi-racial couple, which I thought was cool since I haven't seen a lot of "variety" to start with.

Another nice surprise was that they have started the siding of our house and one of the sides is almost completely done!!!

Other new things are:

• They poured the cement in the garage.
• They poured the cement for the entry way (little porch).
• Finished all the electrical wiring, including the basement.
• Put in the 2 AC units (we purchased 2 so that, hopefully, we can save some money on the power bill down the road).
• Finished the deck's railing
• Started the basement's boards to attach the dry wall to.

We have the pre-drywall meeting on Tuesday and I can't wait to see how the house looks next week!!!

El dia de hoy fuimos a la casa de nuevo y nos toco conocer a nuestros futuros vecinos, y curiosamente tambien son una pareja de 2 razas diferentes, lo cual me parecio curada porque para empezar no hay mucha variedad aqui.

Otra sorpresa agradable fue que ya empezaron a poner el material que va a recubrir la casa (le dicen siding) y uno de los lados esta casi terminado!!!

Otras cosas nuevas son:

• Echaron el cemento en el garage.
• Echaron el cemento de la entrada de la casa (un porche chiquito).
• Terminaron el cableado electrico, incluyendo el sotano.
• Instalaron las 2 unidades para el aire acondicionado (decidimos comprar 2 para ahorrar electricidad en el futuro).
• Terminaron el barandal de la terraza.
• Empezaron a poner los "postes" para sostener el yeso de las paredes.

El martes tenemos la reunion anterior a que pongan las paredes y no puedo esperar a ver como va la casa la semana que viene!!!

Our Stuff: Update

It occured to me that I could look for the shutters and siding samples online to show them to everybody, here's what I found:

Se me ocurrio que podia buscar las muestras de los protectores de las ventanas y el vinil que recubre la casa en linea, y aqui esta lo que encontre:

Our vynil siding will be similar to this color (Pebble).

Nuestra casa va a tener paneles de vinil similares a este color (Pebble).

We chose shutters in "Musket Brown" because I didn't like how the blue, red or green ones looked... Although I did like some light blue ones, that would've made our house look very "Padres" :-). This color sample looks a bit lighter than the sample I saw, which was a bit more "chocolate brown".

Escogimos los protectores de ventanas en "Musket Brown" porque no me gusto como se veian las azules, rojas o verdes... Aunque si me gustaron unas en azul claro pero hubieran hecho ver a nuestra casa muy de los "Padres" :-) Esta muestra de color se ve un poco mas clara que la que yo vi, que se veia un poco mas de color "chocolate".
