The moment of truth

This visit to our house was VERY interesting to say the least... We got to see our house with snow on it for the first time and there are a bunch of changes!!! :-S

It was interesting because we got to see various things finally come together but it was scary at the same time for the same reason :-S LOL I mean, for one, the paint... When we first saw it on the walls we were like "is that pink-ish???" and then I saw the flooring and thought it's too dark, and then the master bathroom tiles and thought they look too yellow... But in the end, I think that it might just be about seeing all the elements and gettting used to them (for instance, I'm the kind of person that, usually, doesn't like a song the first time I hear it)... Also remembering that depending on the furniture we put it that will bring up different shades/tones from the wall color... And last, that we can always change anything later on... It'll be OUR house, after all :-)

Esta visita a la casa fue MUY interesante por decirlo de alguna manera... Nos toco ver la casa con nieve por primera vez y habia muchos cambios!!! :-S

Fue interesante porque vimos varias cosas finalmente juntarse, pero me dio miedo por la misma razon :-S Jajaja Por ejemplo, por una parte, la pintura... Cuando a penas entramos a la casa no preguntamos "que onda, parece rosita???", luego mire el piso y se me hizo que esta muy oscuro y el azulejo del banio de nosotros y se me hizo que se veia muy amarillo... Pero a final de cuentas se me hace que nada mas nos tenemos que acostumbras a ver todos los elementos y acostumbrarnos a verlos juntos (yo por ejemplo, soy de las personas que tengo que oir una cancion varias veces para que me guste)... Tambien recordar que dependiendo de los muebles que pongamos va a "sacar" diferentes tonalidades de la pintura y se vera menos rosa... Y por ultimo, que podriamos cambiar lo que queramos posteriormente porque va a ser NUESTRA casa :-)

All the doors are at the house waiting to be installed.

Todas las puertas ya estan en la casa, esperando ser instaladas.

This is the color that will be throughout the house to begin with. They're still not done painting, obviously, but the color is on all the walls, and they're done with all the ceilings (white).

Este es el color que esta en toda la casa para empezar. Todavia no han terminado de pintar, obviamente, pero ya esta la pintura en las paredes y terminaron el techo (blanco).

In the garage we found our dish washer, microwave, countertops, bathroom sinks and other doors.

En el garage encontramos nuestra lavadora de platos, el microondas, las cubiertas de la cocina, los sinks para los banios y otras puertas.

We also took some pictures of the backyard.

Tambien tomamos unas fotos del patio de atras.

This is the view from the other bedroom on the front of the house, the lot in the corner in front of us is still unsold.

Esta es la vista desde el otro cuarto que esta al frente de la casa, el lote de la esquina frente a nosotros todavia no se vende.

Weekend Updates

As you'll see on the 3rd picture down, there's not a lot of changes on the outside of the house this week, but they finished the deck (at least the part where you stand on), they started putting the fireplace in (it's going to be gas), they're still working on the plumbing, and they started preparing the garage and the basement to pour the cement (it seems like).

We also took a couple of pictures of our house from the side street, I guess that once the house next to ours is built you won't be able to see all of ours that much, but here's how it looks today :-)

Como veran en la tercer foto, no hay muchos cambios en el exterior de la casa esta semana, pero terminaron la terraza (por lo menos la parte donde te paras), y empezaron a poner la chimenea (va a ser de gas), siguen trabajando en la plomeria, y ya empezaron a preparar el garage y el sotano para vaciar el cemento (parece).

Tambien tomamos algunas fotos de la casa desde una calle aledana, me imagino que una vez que construyan la casa de a un lado nuestra casa no se va a ver tanto, pero asi es como se ve el dia de hoy :-)

The Frame: Week 2

We went to check out the progress of the house today. This time the advance it not as obvious on the pictures, but we can REALLY tell it's getting there...

They finished putting up all the external walls for the first floor, and they put up all the frames for the inside walls, including the fire place; they also put together the stair case to the second floor, and they have our windows ready for installation, and the frame for our roof!!!

It's great to seeing it all coming together!!!

Hoy fuimos a checar el progreso de nuestra casa. Esta vez el avance no es tan obvio en las fotos, pero REALMENTE pudimos ver que ahi va...

Terminaron de instalar todas las paredes exteriores del primer piso, incluyendo la chimenea; tambien instalaron las escaleras al segundo piso, ya tienen las ventanas listas para ponerlas, y los marcos para el techo de la casa!!!

Se siente curada ver como van poniendo todo junto!!!

Front of the house... If you compare them to last weeks pictures you can tell it's a little bit taller...that's the ceiling of the first floor.

El frente de la casa... Si comparan esta foto con la de la semana pasada pueden ver que esta un poco mas alta... ese es el techo del primer piso.

View from a back corner. You can see the ceiling (right above the blue plastic from the 1st floor) and the fire place "case".
